IPCC 'Statutory Guidance' instructs police how to investigate

Police officers in England and Wales are to be instructed not to confer before writing up their notes of serious incidents they are involved in. They are to be instructed not to speak or communicate with anybody.

Guidance will be issued on forces once it has been approved by the Home Secretary.


Agreement signed to assist undercover investigations

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) to ensure consistent and thorough handling of cases involving undercover officers where there may be a criminal prosecution has been signed by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) and Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
